SOFT LENSES
Soft contact lenses are comfortable, flexible and breathable, making them perfect for people who would like to frequently wear lenses for longer periods of time.
Soft contact lenses are supplied in a variety of different types, often described by their replacement frequency or wearing schedule.
For example: daily disposables, weekly or fortnightly disposables, monthly disposables or extended wear.
GAS PERMEABLE LENSES
Gas permeable lenses - also known as rigid gas permeable - have been around longer than soft contact lenses. They are smaller in size and made of harder materials, but are still designed to allow oxygen to pass through to the eye.
This type of lens comes in a range of materials, fittings, power and designs and are more suitable for wearers with astigmatism or those who require bifocal and multifocal lenses.
